LINDA ALLEN, Clinician, Judge, Course Designer and Author -
I have spent many years looking for another individual with the innate feel for horses – together with a true love of the animal – that was the signature of Ray Hunt. Finally I discovered such an individual in Jose Alejos. Jose combines his unique ability to read the mind of horses of all types with a special interest in horses destined for Sport Horse careers. I have watched him time and again take a just-started youngster and introduce jumping in a way that builds confidence, enjoyment, and balance, together with a clear idea of the ground rules for their future. Without reservation I can recommend Jose Alejos to anyone wishing to give their young horse the right start, a problem horse a new chance, or, for those looking for the perfect person to work with to hone their own horsemanship skills.

BERNIE TRAURIG, CA, USA -
I’m in Reno, Nevada at the beautiful 150 acre ranch, Maplewood Stables, owned by Julie Winkel. EquestrianCoach is filming some awesome topics by Julie and also the incredible “horse whisperer,” Jose Alejos. Jose resides in Guatemala, but comes to several places in the US to break colts and do ground work. I am so impressed by his techniques. This man’s patience with and empathy for horses is truly amazing and I look forward to bringing his topics & more to you soon on EquestrianCoach.com.

Jose is a true gift to horses. He has such insight into a horse's mind that he can break through the toughest boundaries a ruined horse has built up, as well as create such a gentle, secure, everlasting foundation in our young horses. His smile and ability to relay this information to the human is unsurpassed! He is exactly what I have been in search of to make the bridge between my great breeding program and the successful show jumper! Thank-you Jose!

KC BRANSCOMB KELLEY, Branscomb Farm, Half Moon Bay, CA, USA -
Jose Alejos is a genuine gift to horses and he offers a level of understanding and communication that is very rare for horsemen of our generation. We have been very fortunate to have Jose come to Branscomb Farm each spring for several years to start our upcoming class of 3 year old top jumper prospects. He takes these young, athletic, mares and stallions straight from the field to working quietly under tack at all three gaits and over small crossrails in less than two weeks - with minimal stress - sometimes with minimal tack. I have known and admired many great horsemen in my 57 years in both breeding and sport. Jose is among the world's very best.

Dave and I are lifelong horsemen, and have been breeders for decades. There has been a 'missing link' between the breeder of horses (ours are Spanish Arabian Sport Horses) and the buyers of those horses, in that we must start them under saddle so they may fulfill their promise. In the past it has been a problem to find a trainer who is knowledgeable, kind, and able to make a horse rideable in a short period of time.
We have been fortunate to have Jose Alejos in our area three times last summer starting horses. During that time Jose worked with all our youngsters, and a few older horses with bad habits, and now they are all good and happy in their work! We have really never seen anything like it!
Jose has a completely different and very successful way of starting horses, in an amazingly short period of time. Jose accomplishes in hours and days what would normally take months. Jose has his own unique way of communicating with horses. After Jose rides them, they just 'get it', and are happy to work with their rider. And, they retain it! We took a lot of photos, and they all show the young horses, ears up and going forward on a loose rein, trotting and galloping, even jumping straw bales, with Jose sitting relaxed and apparently doing nothing. Amazing.
Dave and I have seen a lot of trainers over these many years. Many have been good. But there is just no one like Jose Alejos, he stands alone at the head of his class. We recommend Jose Alejos wholeheartedly and feel he is the most cost effective trainer you could have, to get the horse started in a very positive way.

DANIEL ZILLA, Farm Manager & Head Trainer at Branscomb Farm, Half Moon Bay, CA, USA -
Jose is the best one starting horses in my experience, after seeing him many years at the farm with the three-year-olds or horses with problems. When he came to brake horses at the farm he asked me for a thick metal snaffle. He was there for two weeks and rode them every other day, so when I got on them they had probably six to eight rides and the aids on the three-year-olds were very solid and clear. The feeling he has with them is incredible. That's why it doesn't take too long for him to brake a horse and get very good results. The release he has with his seat, legs and hands is extremely fast, so horses learn quickly. They don't get broken from getting tired physically, they learn. He works and trains their brains. The horses get to learn how to balance on their back end, how to trust in the bit and keep contact without being heavy. Jose is so clear with them that after two to three rides the horses look like they are being under saddle for months compared with other systems. Every year, I'm waiting for Jose to come and start the horses at Branscomb Farm.

GABY UFER, Trainer, Endurance Rider, Guatemala -
I met Jose Alejos in Guatemala city two years ago when he was riding a problem jumper horse. I had heard that he was "the one" who worked all over the world, fixing and starting young horses. That made me want to see what he was doing as I am a professional trainer as well. It was astonishing to me how simple he made it look. After only one ride, he gave this black jumper his own balance back! Plus he was trusting him in such a short time! I couldn't believe it.
This past March 2015, I was invited to ride at the Dubai Prince Endurance cup with an arab-horse shipped over from the US. I had never ridden this horse, nor known his owners. The challenge for me and my horse was the Dubai sand, as we didn't know how exhausting that can be for both! Our Guatemalan team didn't know that Jose Alejos was brought from the US to join us as a coach. The horses we rode were not used to the water bottles and my horse did not take a right lead canter. If it had not been for Jose's knowledge and skills, my horse would have never been cooled by water bottles! Jose managed to take the horse I was riding each time for me to cool him from the saddle, while handing me over the noisy plastic bottles. This must have been done by Jose 20 to 25 times during the event with the same professionalism, quietness and strength. He also kept on insisting on how to fix the horse to go in a right lead canter. Sand in my face and tired finally I was able to do it after his firm instructions. He also corrected my posture throughout the whole race, which I thought was great! Thank you Jose!! Without you I would have never finished that important race. And my horse's health would have been at risk.
